Learning and research tools

If curiosity and creativity are key in the future of education at every age, incentives to explore content that can make learning engaging with tools like stories and visuals seem like perfect anchors for establishing an open university-like system.Bentley Moon

Find educational resources, explore scientific models and practise evaluating evidence. Learning routes provide a sequence of sources and practical tasks.

Also: compendiums of outside resources by subject, experiments from across the family, where Kosplora is going, how an AI study guide should behave, digital agency and credential research.

From the Futurism Institute and Values Commons.

What do you want to learn?

Kosplora is being built as an open university: anything, from any source, arranged around what you bring, ending in work someone else can check. Answer three questions and the map below re-arranges around you.

What you bring

What you leave with

  1. Understanding Notes and sources you keep
  2. Work you made A route ends in it
  3. Checked against a published standard Named on some routes
  4. Recognised by a partner Not built

Start here

  1. How fast is the computing power used to train frontier AI growing? a route of 7 stops, 3h 20m alone, checked against a published standard
  2. Where should someone new to AI safety start? a route of 6 stops, 5h 15m alone
  3. The resource library 700 courses, books and references, by subject

Suggestions follow fixed rules: each item lists the times, ways and aims it suits, and the three with the most matches come first. No AI is involved, and nothing you choose is stored or sent. A guide that adapts as you go is not built; how an AI study guide should behave is written down first.

  • Rebuild Epoch AI's published growth rate for frontier training compute from its own data, in a spreadsheet, and compare your figures with the published ones.

  • Write a harmless test set for each prompt-injection scenario in OWASP's 2025 entry, label each direct or indirect, and compare your labels with another person's.

  • Refit the delay law from a published grokking release, from its own table of training runs, in a spreadsheet, and compare your exponents with the published ones.

  • Write a small evaluation in the UK AI Security Institute's Inspect framework, run it on a model on your own computer, score it against BetterBench's criteria, and have another person rerun it.

  • Compare one company's published safety policy with METR's list of shared elements, grade it on a published rubric, and set your grades beside an independent study's and another person's.

  • Read one path from a published neuroscience roadmap for AI safety, set it against a well-known counterpoint, and turn it into a claim an experiment could test.

  • Set two published studies of whether language models make biological misuse easier against a reporting standard for trials, and judge what each design could and could not detect.

  • Score forecasts about AI

    Learning route · Kosplora

Read how superforecasters and experts forecast AI risk, check how their near-term forecasts turned out, and write ten forecasts of your own with a sheet that scores them.

  • Rebuild Daron Acemoglu's estimate of AI's effect on productivity from its four printed inputs, then swap in a reply's inputs and find which disagreement matters most.

More detailed library filters
The resource library now supports search, topic tags and recorded cost. Separate filters for level, format and exact licence, and adjustable ranking within Kosplora, are not yet built.
A personal study planner
Turn a question and your available time into a sequence of sources and practical work. Current routes have fixed steps; adjustable ranking is demonstrated on one example. A route generator is not built.
Digital-literacy practice
Practise checking claims, identifying manipulation and controlling what an AI assistant may do, including responses to adversarial uses of AI. The written guide is available; a complete interactive curriculum is not built.
Assessment and recognised proof of knowledge
Demonstrate knowledge acquired in any setting through work, explanation and unfamiliar tasks, assessed against published criteria. Assessment, credential issuance and partner recognition are not available. Measures against concealed assistance, including in-ear devices, remain unvalidated research. Read the credential proposal
